SUMMARY:Democracy vs. Autocracy: A Message for the Nation
DESCRIPTION:Moral Monday July 5th at 3pm ET/ 12pm PT\nDemocracy vs autocracy is the battle of our time. The longer Manchin\, Sinema & McConnell’s obstructionists refuse to break the non-constitutional filibuster\, the more they undercut America’s moral authority in the face of autocracies around the world. \nWe need a season of nonviolent civil disobedience to turn up the heat on the Senate! Tune in on Monday\, July 5th at 3pm ET/ 12pm PT to hear Poor People’s Campaign co-chair Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II offer a vision for intensified civil disobedience to demand full voting rights and a $15/hr federal minimum wage as well as announce plans for this summer’s upcoming actions. \nAlmost 170 years after Frederick Douglass gave his monumental speech\, What to the Slave is the 4th of July?\, his words still apply: “It is not light that is needed but fire; it is not the gentle shower\, but thunder.” We recognize that no one is free until we are all free. \nIt’s time. Wherever you are\, if you have a group committed to nonviolence\, you can join. We don’t need an insurrection; we need a resurrection of moral movement. \nForward together\, not one step back!\nRev. Dr. William Barber and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis\nCo-Chairs\, Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival

SUMMARY:Moral March on Manchin & McConnell
DESCRIPTION:What is happening in state legislatures across the country in terms of passing voting restrictions is threatening our democracy. What extremists are doing in state legislatures is hurting us all. There has been a clarion call coming out of West Virginia\, Kentucky and all across the nation. This democracy is not only worth fighting for\, but that the people are rising up to defend it. Join us on June 23rd as we stand against voter suppression\, the filibuster\, and political retrogression. \nPoor and low wealth people of all races must stand up. This fight is not just about race. Suppressing the vote hurts Black\, white\, brown\, Indigenous\, Asian\, disabled\, young\, poor and low wealth people. Voter suppression allows people to get elected who block living wages\, health care\, immigrant and LGBTQIA rights. Suppressing the vote is constitutionally inconsistent\, morally indefensible\, politically unacceptable\, and economically insane. \nOn Monday\, June 14th West Virginians and Kentuckians stood together in Charleston\, WV and the very next day Manchin began to backup his position on the For the People Act. This is the strength of poor and low wealth people of all races standing up together. This is fight is far from over and this is why we’re asking you to join the West Virginia and Kentucky Poor People’s Campaigns in Washington\, DC on Wednesday\, June 23rd at 1pm for a Moral March on Manchin and McConnell. West Virginians and Kentuckians have issued the call\, and will be joined by other states\, representing people of all colors\, creeds\, religions\, and backgrounds for a March on Manchin and McConnell to demonstrate our power to stop voter suppression and the filibuster\, and continue to demand the protection and expansion of voting rights\, the raising of wages to at least $15/hour\, the extension of unemployment benefits\, the expansion of health care\, indigenous rights\, and infrastructure development that lifts from the bottom. \nIn a democracy\, poor and low-wealth people must have two things: the right to vote and livingwages! But Joe Manchin and Mitch McConnell are threatening our democracy by resisting these two things. If our elected leaders are blocking the For the People Act\, which will stop the tyranny that is happening in state capitols\, they are not on the side of the people. \nThe manipulations and tactics of those like Manchin\, McConnell and the ruling wealthy elitedemand a mass movement of poor and low-wealth people and their allies for a ThirdReconstruction. Join us on June 23rd as we stand against voter suppression\, the filibuster\, and political retrogression. \nALL ROADS LEAD TO WASHINGTON\, DC! GET ON THE BUS! CLICK HERE to reserve your bus seat. \n\n****COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS**** \n\nMasks are required to be worn at all times except when eating or drinking. Speakers will be allowed to remove masks when they speak\, and the microphones will be sanitized or changed between speakers.\nWe recommend that individuals that are at high risk (i.e. immunocompromised)\, feel sick or who have not been vaccinated (with an exception for children under 12) to join us online only.\nWe will be limiting seating on buses and will maintain social distancing at the Moral March to ensure the safety of our participants.\n\nThe Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival will be joined by the Rainbow PUSH Coalition\, National Council of Churches\, Forward Justice\, MoveOn\, Transformative Justice Network and a host of moral and religious leaders.

SUMMARY:National Poor People’s & Low-Wage Workers' Assembly
DESCRIPTION:On June 21\, 2021\, poor people\, low-wage workers\, moral and faith leaders and advocates will gather online simultaneously with a socially-distant rally at the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh\, NC for a National Poor People’s and Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly. The hybrid online/in-person mass assembly will include our over 40 state coordinating committees\, 200+ organizing partners\, and thousands of moral and faith leaders in our Prophetic Council. \nFrom June 21\, the Poor People’s Campaign will launch a one year campaign fighting forward every day towards a massive\, generationally-transformative Moral March on Washington and Poor People’s & Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly on June 18\, 2022.  People from every corner of the U.S. will converge and convene in the nation’s capital in the summer of 2022 to create a national stage for the voices and leadership of people directly impacted by systemic racism\, the denial of health care and ecological devastation\, militarism and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism. We will demonstrate the power and resolve of poor people to make the Third Reconstruction a reality.

SUMMARY:Moral Monday March on Manchin
DESCRIPTION:Join the West Virginia Poor People’s Campaign as we host a Moral Monday March on Manchin at 5pm in Charleston\, WV on June 14th. We are calling all West Virginians from the hood to the hollers to join us for a socially distanced\, outdoor rally and march! (Location of rally and march will be announced on Thursday\, June 10th.) \nWe know that Senator Manchin’s position on the filibuster is constitutionally inconsistent\, historically inaccurate\, morally indefensible\, economically insane\, and politically unacceptable. This position is hurting all West Virginians of all races\, genders\, and religions\, and especially the 710\,000 poor and low-income people in West Virginia (40% of people living in our state). We are tired of Senator Manchin abandoning us! This is why we must march on Monday! \nWest Virginians need a full restoration of the 1965 Voting Rights Act and expanded protections for our democracy\, beginning with the right to vote for everybody. His call for “bipartisanship” goes against the interests of poor and low-income West Virginians\, who desperately need living wages of at least $15 / hour\, guaranteed health care\, housing and an infrastructure plan that meets all of our needs. \nThat is why on Monday\, June 14th at 5pm we are Marching on Manchin. We need all West Virginians of moral conscience to join us in Charleston. We must cry out from our state to let the country know that Senator Manchin is selling out the people of West Virginia and we won’t be silent anymore! \n****COVID-19 Protocols: All participants will be required to wear masks and remain 6ft socially distanced at this event. Please do not attend this event if you are or have been feeling sick.****

SUMMARY:Season of Jubilee: Body and Soul
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Tejai Beulah and Jacob Butterly (PPF! PA) lead us in reflecting on how the structures of our society exclude and condemn certain expressions of the body that don’t conform to and benefit the system\, often separating sinful “flesh” from pious “spirit.” God values all life\, provides abundance for all\, wants us to enjoy and be our fullest selves\, and God rejects those forces that deny life and degrade this fullness. (Romans 8:12-17) \n**Spanish and ASL interpreters provided.** \nImage: PPC Community Art Build\, 2018 photo credit Steve Pavey. \n— \nDr.
