Leanne Tory-Murphy

Communications Specialist

Leanne Tory-Murphy is a Communications Specialist supporting the work of the Kairos Center and the Poor People’s Campaign. A longtime labor and immigrant rights organizer, and legal advocate, she has worked with various organizations including the Worker Justice Center of NY, Domestic Workers United and the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, as well as the Sportello Sans Papiers in Palermo, Sicily. She graduated from the City University of New York at Hunter College,  was a Fulbright Scholar in Palermo, Italy (2016-2017),  a Global Journalism Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto (2017-2018) and a Visiting Scholar at the Migrations and Mobilizations Seminar at the Center for Place, Culture and Politics at the CUNY Graduate Center (2019). Her work has been published in Le Monde DiploIl ManifestoJacobin, Refugees Deeply, Open Canada and VICE.
