Real and Lasting Change: Models that Work to end Poverty

Eradicating systemic poverty through three crucial and effective models: community organizing, movement-building, and public policy advocacy. Speakers:

  • Denzel Mitchell, an Associate Organizer from the congregation-based community organization “Richmonders Involved to Strengthen Our Communities” in Richmond, VA,
  • The Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis, Director of the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice at Union Theological Seminary (NY) and Co-Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival with the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, and
  • The Rev. Jimmie R. Hawkins, Director of the Presbyterian Church (USA) Office of Public Witness in Washington D.C.
