Project of the Kairos Center at Tides

We are very excited to announce that in 2025 the New York Labor Religion Coalition (LRC) will bring its decades of experience to Kairos as our newest program. We believe this move will strengthen the reach and impact of the faith and community organizing that the LRC has been spearheading since its inception in 1980. It is our hope that this move will offer the LRC greater capacity and support to continue to advocate for just policies and budgets in New York, build bridges between labor struggles, grassroots campaigns and the faith community, and train and equip faith, labor and other community leaders across the state. We also believe that the LRC will strengthen Kairosʼ work to organize deeply in poor and low-income communities across New York and the nation.

A Message From Labor Religion Coalition,

Labor Religion Coalition (LRC) and the Kairos Center have a rich history of close, effective collaboration, from organizing “Moral Mondays” at the state Capitol in 2015 and 2016, to our Truth Commission projects in 2017 and 2022, to helping to anchor the Poor People’s Campaign in New York State since 2017 as well as our recent organizing around the state budget in 2023 and 2024. By joining the Kairos Center, LRC is building on a track record of demonstrated impact and deep alignment at the level of mission, vision, and values. We will also continue to lead movement-building efforts amongst faith and labor communities in New York, while benefiting from the administrative support, national network, and extensive organizing and education experience that Kairos brings to the table.

We are looking forward to this new chapter, and are confident that it will bring strength to our work, deepen our impact, and help us continue building the movement for social, racial, and economic justice in New York State.
