24-Hour Prayer Vigil for a Just New York State Budget

April 1 @ 11:00 am - April 2 @ 11:00 am EDT

As we come to the end of March, our legislators and governor are deep in negotiations over the state budget. We expect the budget will NOT be completed by the April 1 deadline and negotiations will continue into next week.

New Yorkers need and deserve a moral budget that makes sure the super-rich pay their fair share in taxes and that invests meaningfully in housing, healthcare, education, the safety net, clean air and water, and living wages. Knowing how much is at stake for our communities – especially for poor and low-income New Yorkers – religious leaders from across our state will be holding a 24-hour continuous prayer vigil from 11:00 am April 1 until 11:00 am April 2.

Please RSVP to join us for the opening and closing of the vigil:

Opening **Virtual** Vigil and Press Conference – Monday, April 1, 11:00 am – Join us on Zoom to launch the 24-Hour Vigil with song, prayer, and testimony on the impact of this year’s budget.

Closing **In-Person** Vigil and Press Conference at the New York State Capitol – Tuesday, April 2, 11 am – We’ll conclude the vigil in the War Room at the New York State Capitol Building in Albany. Lunch will be provided following the event.

All are welcome!
