Background

Across the country, millions of people are struggling to afford the basics of life. Rising costs, deepening inequality, and disinvestment in our communities have left too many of us carrying the burden alone. At the same time, attacks on democracy, rising facism and religious nationalism are intensifying political and spiritual crises that touch every part of our lives.

But this is not the whole story.

In communities everywhere, people are organizing to care for one another, meet urgent needs, and fight for a future rooted in dignity, justice, and shared abundance. This is a kairos moment — a time of both profound danger and profound possibility. The challenge before us is to unite these efforts into a movement powerful enough to transform our society and redistribute political and economic power.

This summer, the Kairos Center is joining with community and faith partners across five regions to launch a Season of Survival Revivals. These gatherings will bring together neighbors, organizers, artists, faith leaders, and movement partners to:

  • Meet immediate material needs through mutual aid and community support
  • Create spaces for grounding, healing, culture, and spiritual connection
  • Build collective power and take action for political and economic transformation

The Survival Revivals are rooted in the belief that survival alone is not enough. We deserve communities where everyone can live with dignity, safety, belonging, and hope.

Together, we will protect each other, organize, and build our power.
